2005 Ford Lightning Concept

The launching of the SVT Lightning concept, "Whole New Era of Built Ford Tough"
came as a big surprise. This had been Ford Motor Company's star product introduction
ever made at the dawn of its Centennial Year. The unveiling of the all-new, full-size
pickup architecture F-150 carefully designed for more power, refined, and dynamic
driving capability aimed squarely at assuring Lightning's market supremacy well
into the future.
The initiative taken by designer John Coletti's team filled the SVT Lightning
concept with awesome features far more advanced and creative than that characterizing
the other existing Ford cars. The team had virtually conceptualized and invented
speed secrets that will make Lightning a stand out in the crowd. The Lightning
Concept features an aggressive new look wrapped around a 500-horsepower supercharged
5.4-liter V8, six-speed manual transmission and an independent rear suspension.
As inspired by the Ford Expedition, SVT engineers gave a focused attention to
every detail of the suspension in lieu of F-150's standard Hotchkiss type solid
rear axle. Furthermore, Ford's patented SuperCooler technology gives off greater
percentage of cool air than that of the traditional intercoolers. Nonetheless,
the Ford Motor Company has gone a step further with this particular model.
